What is the SPX workout?
The SPX workout is a combination of weight training and pilates. SPX utilizes the best of both: the strengthening and toning benefits of weight training and the lengthening and postural enhancing benefits of pilates in a circuit training sequence. SPX keeps the heart rate up and burns extra calories. You can expect to burn anywhere from 500 to 600 calories in a single class. And because of the added support of the Proformer, SPX eliminates the pressure on the joints and the spine, hence it eliminates extra stress on the body.
This is my first SPX workout. Should I do a private training session first?
It depends on your current fitness level. Most of our new students do fine in the classes. The workout is intense but the routine is kept simple to make sure everyone is using good form. If you have chronic back pain, painful joints, and a severe medical condition check with your doctor first and then, if given the go ahead, schedule a private training session to assess your fitness level.
What should I bring to class?
Bring a towel, as you will sweat! Although we have water, some students like to bring their own water. Wear loose, comfortable clothes. Jewelry is NOT a good idea. No cellphones during classes, to be respectful of others. No strong perfumes as some people are allergic to them. If you are about to renew, then bring your payment. You can also pay online using our automated system. Please understand that no classes can be confirmed unless you are prepaid.
How often should I practice SPX?
The workout is designed to work your body to muscle fatigue at which point you need to rest. Depending on your fitness level and the intensity of your workout, you will need more or less time to recover. We recommend three times a week to allow your body to properly recover and repair. But some students love the workout so much that they come 5 or 6 times per week. It’s up to you. You can even mix up the classes you take during the week.
What if I cannot come to class and I have already been confirmed? Will I be charged?
Yes, even if it is your first time. We require a 24-hour notice to cancel a class. There are no exceptions. A $25 late cancellation fee will be charged to the credit card on file each time you cancel or reschedule a class without giving the full 24-hour notice.
How do I schedule classes?
We recommend that all our clients get familiar with our automated online booking system here at www.studiosculpt.com . It is the easiest, fastest and most accurate way to book classes. If you are not technologically savvy, forgot your password or cannot get to a computer, then call or email us. Click Here to schedule classes.
Are my classes refundable or transferable?
Sorry but all purchases are final, and are not transferable.
Will my spot be given away if I am late to class?
Yes. It is very important to arrive on time as a respect to the instructor and other clients. Sometimes, clients will drop in to see if someone does not show allowing them a space in the class. If you do not arrive within five minutes of scheduled class time, your space may be given to someone who is waiting. Be sure to sign in to class so we know you were present.
Can I sign up on a waitlist if a session I want is full?
Absolutely, and we recommend doing this! Not only will you have better luck getting into a class, it also helps us to know where we need to add classes. You should receive an email from us that tells you when you get in and asks if you would like to keep the reservation.
